  • Well trained laity can provide meaningful caring ministry for others. This project develops and implements a twelve-session training program with ten participants on lay caring ministry in a church. The results include an increase in the congregation's acceptance of lay involvement in ministry, especially caring; a broadening in the congregation's concept of caring for others; an increase in the participants' willingness to be accepting of others and in their ability to provide lay caring ministry; and the development by the participants of many specific ministries. The training program is effective and can be helpful in any church where pastor and people are willing and eager to develop lay caring ministry.
