  • In order to make the clergy more aware of child abuse as a social problem, a series of six meetings was held. Guest speakers and movies, as well as discussions, covered a general overview of the problem in New Hampshire and elsewhere, the various categories of abuse, means of prevention, and methods of treatment. Special attention was given to the response of the clergy to child abuse--their legal responsibility to report it, their moral responsibility to accept it, and their need to deal with their own psychological reaction to it. In addition to describing the meetings, the project report reviewed the relevant literature and assessed the limitations of the meetings.
