Abstrait

This project developed a mentoring program to assist young men from female single parent households to pass through the ranks of child to teenager, teenager to young adult, and young adult to adulthood with the assistance and support of older men. In addition to the results of a needs assessment, the Old and the New Testaments provided guidance for establishing mentoring relationships. The project includes comprehensive guidance on (1) developing a quality mentoring program; (2) recruiting, training and supporting older male mentors, and (3) evaluating the results. This project is a cooperative model in which both the mentor and the mentee are obligated to one another and each is responsible to God. The project provides information that will help the community and the faith-based organization to successfully reach out to their youth.
