  • The study traces the theological journey of African, Asian, and Latin American women within the Ecumenical Association of Third World Theologians (EATWOT). An historical study, it begins with an overview of EATWOT, showing the marginal role of its women members. Consequently, the women formed a commission within EATWOT with its own program of 'doing theology from the perspective of Third World women.' The rest of the chapters focus on the growth of the women's theological consciousness, first corporately through the work of the commission, then individually through the separate stories of eight of its members. The final chapters analyze the factors that helped or hindered the growth, assess the women's contribution to theology, and suggest the future work to be done by EATWOT and the women's commission.
