Abstracto

HIV/AIDS is changing our world and the context for mission. Its epicenter is sub-Saharan Africa. This project looks at the response of one faith-based organization, SIM International, with its strategy 'HOPE for AIDS'. The author uses qualitative research methodology and theological reflection to analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges of SIM's response. Lessons learned: the importance of strategic partnerships; affirmation of those involved; engaging membership at all levels; reflection on best practices; analysis of needs and possible responses; perseverance. Recommendations: broadening SIM's response; becoming more demonstrably effective; developing a clear communication strategy; formal strategizing at different organizational levels.
