- The purpose of this ministry project was to develop a model for discipleship training among members of Koinonia Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland which could be effectively utilized and replicated for new church starts in African American urban communities. This ministry model results in the development of the pastor (or bishop) as a chief discipler and the development of church members as disciples who are empowered to disciple others into church relationship and to help those currently members to grow to Christian maturity. The model consists of 13 consecutive weeks of study classes, ministry opportunities, reflection and evaluation followed by a one-year commitment to continued discipleship on a bi-weekly basis.
