  • The paper describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of semester-long middle school confirmation class curriculum. The focus of the curriculum is Christian ministry, with the goal of making confirmation preparation a bridge to more effective and meaningfully informed incorporation of youth in congregational outreach and service ministries. Instructional foundations are provided in scripture and the services and catechism of the Episcopal Book of common prayer and with simultaneous and extensive use of mentoring relationships and hands-on participation in outreach and service activities. Evaluation shows enhanced subsequent levels of on-going youth participation in ministry.
