Abstract
  • The problem addressed was the tradition that pastors always taught the catechism. Therefore, lay people lacked confidence in teaching it and members were hesitant to receive teaching from someone not seminary trained. A twelve-session teacher training seminar was conducted over four consecutive Sundays. Five Filipino ethnic Chinese Episcopalian adults were trained and tested. The responses of ten local church members to the trainees' teaching were also tested. The five trainees taught before and after the twelve-session seminar. The presentations were videotaped and used by two seminary faculty to evaluate both the trainees' presentations and the members' responses.
