  • Preaching is rightly understood to be a ministry of the whole congregation in which preacher, hearer, and the Spirit of God work together in partnership. Commonly, preachers are taught to preach, but seldom are hearers equipped for their role. Employing the language of personality and temperament types as a vehicle for discussion, a strategy is suggested which brings preacher and hearers together in a small group format, enabling each to enhance their skills in hearing the Word of God by listening to one another. A sense of mutuality in ministry results as preacher and hearer become a preaching congregation.
