  • Individuals who face death in the light of the victory of Jesus Christ achieve the freedom to celebrate life. The pastoral task presented in this project is to guide individuals through a lifetime of experience through liturgy, teaching and preaching in which they face the reality of death in nonthreatening ways. This process frees parishioners to live apart from the fear of death. Examples of spiritual guides who have achieved that freedom are St Monica, St Bernard of Clairvaux, Martin Luther, John Arndt, Paul Gerhardt, J S Bach, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Practical examples illustrate how their insights can be incorporated into the life of the parish.
