- Abstract
- This project in ministry explores Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) and argues that AIDS presents special challenges for Christian ministry. The project's strength is in its theological reflection on the church's mission regarding AIDS. A mail survey was used to assess the impact of AIDS on the parochial ministries of pastors serving parishes in the Metropolitan Association, New York Conference, United Church of Christ. The project concludes, given structural and cultural resistance to AIDS-related ministry, clergy desiring to serve persons affected by AIDS best work through secular agencies devoted both to serving individuals and to addressing related social policy issues.
