- Since 30 April 1975, when South Vietnam came under Communist rule, membership of many Protestant churches has declined but some churches have grown tremendously, especially in Saigon. This project concentrates on three growing churches in Saigon--An-Dong, Tran Cao Van and Truong Minh Giang--to attempt to discover reasons and factors that have enabled these churches to grow under Communist oppression from 1975 to 1983. The project includes a short, critical review of the history of Protestantism in Vietnam and a discussion of various forms of Communist persecution of religion, citing the positive and negative effects on the Protestant church. Practical principles and guidelines for growth in the Communist environment are drawn out of the experiences of these churches.
