Abstracto

This ministry project was designed as the foundation for a spiritual gifts-based discipleship ministry at Modest Town Baptist Church. Chapter 1 offers the stated goals of the project, as well as an in-depth introduction into the church and local community surrounding the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Chapter 2 specifically addresses the biblical, theological, and historical foundations for spiritual gifts. A thorough examination of God's active Spirit in both the Old and New Testaments is presented. Chapter 3 discusses three current training programs for spiritual gifts-based discipleship ministries as they relate to the local church. Two existing church models will also be highlighted as well. Chapter 4 is the step-by-step implementation of the ministry project that was successfully completed at Modest Town Baptist Church. A detailed analysis of all relevant statistical information is also presented and discussed within the context of this chapter. Chapter 5 offers an evaluation of the ministry project. This chapter also addresses the project's strengths and weaknesses, its successes and failures, and a personal reflection from the author.
