  • Many preachers fail to show how life in the first century has any relevance to life in the twentieth century. They fail to show how the preaching of the Word has anything to do with going to work, raising a family, paying bills, or any of the myriad of problems that we face today. The question then is, what is relevant preaching? A biblically relevant sermon is a sermon that meets needs by relating the principles of Scripture to the human condition. This project used active research in the form of questionnaires to elicit the response of the congregation to felt-need sermons. The result of this project showed that preaching to felt needs is relevant preaching.
