  • The purpose of this study was to locate and apply those emphases in Martin Luther's thought which are relevant and adequate for the churches' lobbying ministry within the American political context. Lobbying was defined as any activity which has as its ultimate aim the influence of public policy decisions. An examination of Luther's political thought is combined with a study of five Washington-based denominational agencies involved with influencing public policy.
