The main purpose of this study was to identify and examine causes of conflict on the locked brain injury unit of a hospital in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. A qualitative methodology using observation, narratives, face-to-face interviews, and a survey was employed. The findings suggest systemic and organizational issues concerning policies and procedures which include a neglect and lack of positive rewards, reduced staffing and high turnover rates, differing approaches to care planning, constant policy changes, lost leadership, and staff refusal to float. This project recommends creating a sacred space which provides opportunity for the creation of harmony.
