  • This project, conducted at Payne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Duquesne, Pennsylvania, focused on how implementing pastoral care could aide in understanding the voice of those alienated by the church, which could result in the healing of those affected. Through two-one hour long interactive workshops, clergy and lay addressed the problem that people no longer view the church as a place of hope, but rather hurt. Surveys were distributed preceding the initial workshop, and at the conclusion of the final workshop. This project revealed that through pastoral care, the alienated voice can be understood and healing can take place.
