- Abstract
- This project explores the past and present of the Latvian people--in particular, the trauma of war and the process of healing from post-traumatic stress, as survivors move through Elisabeth Kübler-Ross's stages of grief--in order to understand the depth of suffering and hope in the grief stories of immigrant members of the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Theological analysis of storytelling, confession, and forgiveness shows that by God's grace these Christians have responded in faith and have experienced healing and wholeness within their Latvian community by forgiving themselves and others.
