- Abstract
- One of the greatest problems for a local church is to understand and to live out its mission. The challenge is even more difficult when the denomination is pluralistic. This project, conducted at St Mark United Methodist Church, Springfield, Ohio, developed a process to help the congregation determine its identity and purpose and to evaluate fairly its potential ministry. It addressed the problem through a process of self-assessment. The candidate provided leadership through collaboration and analysis. As a result of the process the congregation was able to develop a statement of mission and to identify new directions and possibilities for its ministry.
