- As a community dedicated to serving the world beyond themselves, the McKinley Memorial Presbyterian Church had not developed an intentional lay care-giving ministry for members in crisis. With a renewed understanding of what it means to be a covenant community, members of this church have begun to find a balance in giving and receiving care and supported the implementation of a particular model for care involving the training and organization of individuals in small groups. Interviews and focus groups assessed the results of educational objectives and the implementation of the model. More people have received the care they need, the congregation sees their mission in broader terms and they believe they will achieve greater effectiveness in carrying out their mission.
