  • This thesis deals with the challenges of preaching to a postmodern generation whose primary language of communication is greatly influenced by electronic media, and proposes sermon crafting tools influenced by a marriage between modern cinematography and the New Homiletical current. Through data gathered in surveys and focus groups, an overview of cinematography, and a study of Buttrick and Troeger's emphasis on form, this thesis proposes that the use of these techniques impacts the hearer at a visceral level. This is manifest in the hearers' understanding and memory of the gospel proclaimed, their self-identification within the sermon narrative, and response in ministry.
