  • This research project raises the question of whether or not preaching the stories of shalom can lead Congregations of Civility to concientización without alienating the preacher in the process. Shalom is defined in its usage as a biblical, theological, and homiletical motif. Ten key points are offered for preaching shalom to Congregations of Civility without the preacher becoming alienated from such congregations. Preaching the stories of shalom is then examined as an effective means of fulfilling these ten key points, and four sample sermons are offered which incorporate this technique. These four sermons were evaluated by the author's own Congregation of Civility, and the resulting conclusion is that preaching the stories of shalom can, indeed, lead Congregations of Civility to concientización without alienating the preacher in the process.
