- Abstract
- The author proposes a spirituality to enable dialogue about ordination of women in the Roman Catholic Church. This spirituality is grounded in a consistent ethic of life that respects the inherent dignity of all persons. Statements against women's ordination have been made out of fearful reaction to decisions of the Episcopal Church. Using the Whitehead method, the author studies the experience of Episcopalians and the tradition of the Catholic Church, bringing these elements into conversation with aspects of democratic and clerical cultures. She concludes that authentic dialogue about the ordination of women is needed for the good of the church.
