Abstracto

This project provided a model by which a local congregation can plan for a year's ministry with a high degree of intentionality. This was accomplished by: (1) reflection upon the mission of the church in light of changing environmental needs; (2) holding a Mission Sunday to involve the community in formulating a current statement of mission and sense of corporate identity; (3) conducting a planning retreat to set priorities, objectives, and strategies; and (4) evaluation of processes and results. The project resulted in clearer understanding of what it means to be church in the midst of urban transience and provided a means for continuing reappraisal of ministry.
