This is an effort to understand changes in a rural area of western Pennsylvania over a thirty-year period and their impact on three Presbyterian churches. The changes include movement away from an agriculturally based rural community, changes in local businesses, and shifts in land use. The impact includes shifts in church programs and demographics. The process is a small discussion group from the membership of the churches, with interviews of key community members. Conclusions: the community has a generally positive worldview; the churches influence that worldview. Changes have been gradual, and the churches see opportunities for service in the community.
