  • Jesus viewed the church as a relational community in which love and friendship are present as was envisioned in John 13:34-35. The comprehension and expression of such a view is vital to the health, life and testimony of the church. When the church captures a vision for biblical community it will leave a living signature upon the world and experience purpose, fulfillment and joy. This project created a biblical model that was entitled 'Love and Friendship in Relational Community.' The model measured the condition of relationships in the light of biblical principles on community and designed means in which to bring about relational change. The model was analyzed and evaluated externally by a team of experts and internally by a church staff. The model was found to be successful in facilitating dialogue among church leaders to create strategies to enrich Christian relationships and in accomplishing the established goals of encouraging meaningful relational development in the community of faith.
