The thesis suggests that the Sydney Anglican Church has been moving away from a history of involvement with the community into a model of church life which separates itself from the community. The dissertation examines relevant literature in three areas: urbanization and its relationship to the Sydney Anglican Church, the history of the Sydney Anglican Church, and the development of a congregational theology of church in Sydney Anglicanism.
