- Abstract
- The nature of the spiritual quest suggests a profound connection between psychological and body states of being. Part I is an exegetical and psychological interpretation of the holistic, therapeutic wisdom of Mark 5:24-34. Part II reflects a new paradigmatic shift exploring the meaning of illness from medical, psychological and spiritual perspectives, recognizing that body and psyche are one. The paradoxical nature of illness can empower growth and heal the body/psyche split which has been impacted by reductionistic thinking. Comparisons are made between body therapy and analytical psychology. Experiential and caregiver dimensions of physical, emotional and spiritual understandings of illness meaning are examined.
