- Abstract
- Deaf ministry in predominantly hearing communities is most frequently respresented by the inclusion of one interpreted worship service per week. While this accomodation to the deaf is valid, there is a need in the hearing communities to build deeper, more appropriate ministries with the deaf. How can deaf ministry be effective, more appropriate ministries with the deaf. How can deaf ministry be effective within the context of a predominately hearing community? Travelling with American Sign Language interpreters, the author interviewed members of the deaf community in the Baltimore-Washington and Fredrerick, Maryland area. The result of this research was the creation of a deaf website, 'deafopendoors.com', which can be linked to church websites to provide information generated by the deaf community.
