Abstracto

This project provides the rationale for providing pastoral services and the required characteristics of those providing services in addiction treatment. The primary tool for relating to all treatment patients--the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous is discussed from a biblical perspective. The three basic approaches to assisting patients solve their addiction problem--psychological, physiological, and theological are presented. The psychological and physiological approaches are mentioned to provide a brief exposure to them. The theological method is covered in detail. This is the primary approach of the pastor working in treatment. Finally, the biblical/theological bases of addiction are discussed in detail.
