Abstrait

This work will focus on the development of a gospel choir at Tremont Temple Baptist Church in downtown Boston. It will explore various methodologies for understanding the significant musical and historical roots of gospel singing, as well as its incorporation in the worship experience of a culturally diverse congregation which the gospel choir also reflects. This thesis project poses the question of how to develop a multi-cultural and multi-generational gospel choir which can provide an uplifting meaningful quality of worship and sense of unity for the spiritual edification of a diverse downtown congregation.
