  • This project is meant to inspire and enable Orthodox priests to minister to alcoholics and addicts, and their families. Drawing from the author's survey of alcoholics, addicts and Orthodox priests, this study examines the role that the parish priest currently plays in the process of recovery. It further demonstrates how scripture and Orthodox tradition enhance ministry to the alcoholic and addict. Finally, the project provides clergy with a 'handbook' to effectively ministry to alcoholics and addicts and their families. The project also provides an insight to family members, concerning the disease of addiction, and the most successful means of recovery.
