This project proposes and implements a program to assist two groups of pastoral counseling clients--a pluralistic control group and an experimental group of active church members--in discovering forgiveness, drawing on the work of John H Patton. Rather than instructing clients in acts of forgiveness, Patton suggests that clients should be helped to become more authentic as persons so that forgiveness of self and others can be discovered and realized. In this project the pluralistic group experiences significant change in beliefs and attitudes while the church members do not.
