Abstracto

This thesis project addresses the need for pastors to plan wisely for their first year of pastoral succession. Research indicates that virtually all pastors have predecessors and many pastors fail early in the transition to a new church assignment. The author suggests that pastors who have a plan for their preaching can accelerate a successful leadership transition. This course is designed primarily for Christian university and seminary students preparing for ministry. The First Year guides the student through a process of planning the first year of sermons taking into account the unique challenges of a pastoral succession.
