  • This project proposes and develops a five-session training program to prepare and supervise faith-community volunteers to offer effective, nonjudgmental pastoral care to AIDS patients and their families, testing it with 12 volunteers from two local churches serving the Family AIDS Clinic and Educational Services of Children's Hospital (Columbus, Ohio). Having experienced some transformation of attitudes and fears, the volunteers are able to offer effective comfort and guidance to AIDS patients and their family members.
