Abstrait

This project focused on designing a church-based, mentor-led residency internship for training seminarians to be church planters. Study of mentoring practice, particularly as modeled by Jesus and Paul, revealed the biblical prominence of this leadership development approach. Educational literature review identified the best training principles and practices for adult learners, specifically church planters. Qualitative research interviews were conducted with seminary administrators, field mentors, and mentored seminarians now active in church planting. Field education documents from twelve evangelical seminaries were studied. The resultant internship model--and seminary internship manual--contains key components implementable by both schools and churches in preparing church planters.
