  • The project thesis tests the belief that knowledge brings freedom...the truth will make you free (John 8:32). A course of study was developed which traced the antecedents of Pentecostalism to the end of classical Pentecostal period (approximately 1960). Since Pentecostalism is more the result of culture than of theological discourse, the influence of culture of theology was emphasized. Pentecostalism was defined and Pentecostal doctrines were explained. As a result of the study participants gained understanding of the movement and were freed from their earlier concerns.
