  • Can the contemplative Christian tradition help mainline Protestants revive and develop a spiritual life? This project, which taught a course to UCC adults in four Connecticut congregations on The interior castle written by Teresa of Avila in 1577, had four goals: 1) offering an overview of the spiritual journey that provides knowledge, insight, and landmarks to the spiritual pilgrim, 2) inspiring participants of continue their pilgrimages into the contemplative portions of the journey, 3) clarifying the importance of discernment and offering some helpful guidelines to the seeker, and 4) elucidating the strong correlation between contemplation and service.
