- Abstract
- Addiction affects the lives of people by damaging their health, destroying their relationships, scarring their soul and altering their brain. Prison chaplains work in a unique position with inmates who feel the reality of their life decisions. The addiction feels more powerful even than God. Imagine the chaos created in the soul of a person who wants to change, but does not know how. Will power and guilt have not worked; neither have inpatient or outpatient programs or threats. That is why we spend ten weeks looking at how addiction is a disease of the soul and the body.
