  • This dissertation/project considers first person biblical preaching within the framework of Troeger, Rose, Gilmore, Childers and Lowry. Here the preacher becomes the biblical character in a creative encounter of body, voice and Bible. Such preaching is foreshadowed in the oral-aural era through icons and mystery plays. The author contends that the church is still locked into the literary-print era with sermons preached from prepared manuscripts. First person biblical preaching portrays the gospel in a visual format suited to the electronic multi-media culture of television and computers. The project component develops and evaluates four first person biblical sermons.
