- Abstract
- This dissertation tested the hypothesis that the act of giving a religious history will be seen by patients in a general hospital as having a positive effect upon either their physical or emotional condition, or both, and thus as an important dimension of their overall care. The data obtained, which includes response from physicians to a write-up summarizing and assessing patients' history and a questionnaire patients returned following their discharge, indicated that sharing their history was a positive experience for ten of the twelve patients interviewed. Specific and assumed benefits, which patients experienced, are noted.
