Abstract
  • This project proposes a specific ministry for dying congregations, recognizing that many congregations in numerical and spiritual decline will not be able to make changes necessary for survival and will eventually die. Drawing on sociological analysis, organizational theory, and family systems theory, the project investigates why and how congregations decline. From this research issues emerge that must be confronted in ministry to dying congregations. The project explores how such a ministry might be employed.
