- Abstract
- Modern churches reduced ordinary disciples to passive receivers of the will of God as discerned by clergy who often functioned like corporate CEOs. In a time of massive chaos both outside and inside the congregation, this project argues that the post-Christendom, Postmodern, post-9.11 context requires a (re)discovery of neglected forms of being and leading the church. Exploring the partnership between a biblical ecclesiology and the new discoveries in science and organizational theory, this case study proposes the ancient practice of simple, Scripture-shaped conversations as a process through which leadership and ecclesial practices are (trans)formed within the missional church.
