- Abstract
- This project was conducted April 1991 in Houston, Texas. Participants were pastors, therapists, and pastoral counselors who give spiritual guidance within the Protestant tradition. James Fowler's faith development interview provided a pre-retreat picture of the participants. The leader used a regimen of spiritual exercises designed to evoke a powerful sense of God's presence for them. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Pearson's Heroic Myth Index, and self-projective artwork gave participants ways to engage their personal unconscious material. The project report included a theological rationale for spiritual experience and a discussion of psycho-spiritual techniques of seeking God.
