Abstrakt

This project was conducted April 1991 in Houston, Texas. Participants were pastors, therapists, and pastoral counselors who give spiritual guidance within the Protestant tradition. James Fowler's faith development interview provided a pre-retreat picture of the participants. The leader used a regimen of spiritual exercises designed to evoke a powerful sense of God's presence for them. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Pearson's Heroic Myth Index, and self-projective artwork gave participants ways to engage their personal unconscious material. The project report included a theological rationale for spiritual experience and a discussion of psycho-spiritual techniques of seeking God.
