  • God sent Jesus Christ to be the Savior of humankind. This mission of God, or missio Dei, is reflected in Jesus' Great Commission for his disciples to go and make other disciples. The launching of new churches needs to reflect this mandate for evangelism and be an expression of God's own missionary nature. In this report is a case study of three larger membership Presbyterian churches in Dallas, Texas, whose launches reveal some common markers discovered through historical resources and interviews with the founders. Larger membership churches have particular gifts for launching larger membership new church developments (NCD's). This legacy encourages the launch of another larger membership NCD after contemporary adjustments are made to the missiology of these previous styles of NCD. Then, using Percept data an analysis is made that will show how Frisco, Texas, north of Dallas, is a likely place for the next larger membership NCD. This idea has been tested in a public presentation and from it shows how an NCD in Frisco can be an expression of God's missionary nature.
