Abstract
  • This project utilized expository preaching and biblical teaching to lead members of Bardwell Baptist Church, Bardwell, KY, to read and apply the Old Testament. Ch.1 details a comprehensive introduction to this project. Ch.2 provides a biblical defense for preaching and teaching the Old Testament specific passages of scripture detail the need, mandate, and importance of this vital ministry. Ch.3 examines the five genres of the Old Testament. Specific insights, sub-types, and characteristics of each of the genres are addressed. This chapter also includes general principles for understanding each of the five Old Testament genres and suggestions for preaching these genres. Ch. 4 presents the methodology used in the expository sermon series and teaching sessions. It includes the facets of the implementation of the project from beginning to completion. Ch. 5 concludes the project with a statistical and personal analysis, theological reflection, and conclusions.
