  • This project proposes that renewed understanding of the sermon as a teaching event will enable preachers to preach for biblical literacy in a climate in which biblical illiteracy inhibits spiritual growth and hinders the effectiveness of preaching. When preachers combine insights from learning styles and faith development as well as an awareness of unique cultural contexts with a renewed understanding of expository preaching and a commitment to preaching sermons in series, they will enable increased biblical literacy and revitalized spiritual growth.
