Abstracto

The author proposes that pastoral ministry will be effective if it is institutionally integrated by recognizing people's need to find value in being, by helping them experience faith in life's ultimate meaning and by providing unconditional care. A pastor must sense people's pain and compassionately share in members' healing. Her method includes listening to and reflecting upon the experience of the people, subjecting that experience to dialogue with revelation, and deriving a theology of ministry and designing a programmatic response. She concludes that the testimony of children and staff demonstrates her model's effectiveness.
