  • The Pulitzer prize-winning poet Mary Oliver advocates that one's soul is built entirely out of attentiveness. This doctoral project examines this postulation and seeks to identify specific practices of attentiveness that, according to research respondents, nurture one's soul and promote spiritual growth. Based on these findings, this project asserts that the local church can advocate the practice of attentiveness to counter the pervasive, twenty-first century phenomenon of soul-deadening hyperactivity.
